From Rob Lavinsky: "This was the first phosgenite I ever saw, about 30 years ago when I was 12. My mentor, Carlton Davis, had just brought it out to show as part of his competition thumbnails case. It is a stunning, doubly-terminated, gemmy crystal from a place where frankly most things are rather more ugly and gray. He told me he had got it from an old collection at Ward's in Rochester when he worked there after WWII. The piece is a superb rarity, a superb locality piece, and a world class thumbnail by competitive standards."Joe Budd photos. Ex. Carlton Davis.
